Accessibility

Our aim. Playful Physics should be usable by everyone, and we use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2, level AA) as the benchmark. The site has not been formally audited, so this page says plainly what is known to work and what does not yet. What works. Every control is a standard button, slider, tick box or menu, so it can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline. The equations and live readouts are real text, not pictures. Models open paused and only move when you press Play. The animated background and other decorative motion respect your device's "reduce motion" setting. What does not work yet. The simulations themselves are drawn on a canvas, which screen readers cannot read, so a blind reader can change the controls and hear the equations but cannot yet hear what the picture shows. Some models also let you drag things on the canvas. Most of those changes can also be made with the controls, but not all, and the canvas itself cannot be used with a keyboard. Colour contrast has been designed for but not measured on every model. Tell us. If something on the site is hard to use, please say so through the feedback page, with the page and what happened. Problems that stop someone using a model are fixed first.
